The most Liable history of Bloody Mary we've found is as follows;
A young woman named Mary came home one day and saw her boyfriend. He proposed to her. She went out and celebrated. She came back and he gave her an... engagement present of sorts.
The present was a beautiful antique hand mirror. He told her;
"In hopes you will one day see how beautiful you truly are."
The day before the wedding is to be Mary finds out her fiance - who she loved VERY, VERY much - Had been cheating.
In her extreme rage, she confronted her fiance. She held up the hand mirror and screamed something along the lines of ;
"This means nothing! Nothing! Did she not like it? That harlot you have been seeing? Is that why you gave it to me?"
He tried to explain it was only one time, and that it would never happen again. She would not listen. The next thing she did - again, in her extreme rage - threw the mirror in his general direction and it missed and shattered on the wall and shards fell on the ground. Then she launched herself at him and he dodged to the side, making her land on the sharp pieces of glass. In her stupidity she writhed in the glass, cutting her throat open. She bled to death on the floor.
END
This explains why she haunts glass, and why she has a scratched appearance. And of course, why she's very, very, angry!
